Bakelite

The Bakelite door handles are made from the material Bakelite, which is the world's first manufactured industrial plastic.

Bakelite was named and invented by the Belgian chemist Leo Hendrick Baekeland at the beginning of the 20th century.

In addition, the door handles feel warmer than, for example, brass door handles, as bakelite is heat resistant.
